BEQUEST
The gifts of bequests are charitable gifts and ensure that The Council of Churches of the City of New York is the beneficiary of your last will and testament. Bequests are easy to arrange, easy to arrange and it does not affect your assets or cash flow during your life time.
• General bequest – provides a specific dollar amount:
“I bequeath ten thousand dollars ($10,000) to The Council of Churches of the City of New York, located at 475 Riverside Drive, Suite 727, New York, NY 10115.”
• Residuary bequest – a percentage of an estate left in your will after the deductions of other gifts such as specific bequests:
“I bequeath 10% of my estate to The Council of Churches of the City of New York, located at 475 Riverside Drive, Suite 727, New York, NY 10115.”
• Contingent bequest – a gift that takes effect when the primary beneficiary (or beneficiaries) of the bequest predecease you:
“If neither my spouse of my children does not survive me and/or is unable to inherit my bequest, I give and bequeath to The Council of Churches of the City of New York, located at 475 Riverside Drive, Suite 727, New York, NY 10115.”
