A non-grantor lead trust allows you to make a gift to the Council of Churches of the City of New York and at the same time give your heirs a tax advantage. A non-grantor lead trust pays income to the Council for a number of years and then pass the remaining principal back to the beneficiaries you have selected. Advantages:

    • The value of the assets you place in your lead trust for estate tax and gift tax purposes will be reduced by the present value of the income that the trust will pay the Council of Churches of the City of New York.

    • Taxable value of the lead trust’s assets is fixed at the time you establish the trust, which will subsequently increase the value of the assets what will be passed to your heirs outside your estate and therefore, free of estate tax.
